Helping Young People Excel (HYPE)
Youth & Young Adults ages 16-21 who are out of high school (dropped out, graduated, in college, etc.) can get the help they need to pursue educational goals (GED, college, vocational education), obtain internships & employment, and successfully transition into adulthood. SER provides these services for low-income youth & young adults who are facing a multitude of barriers to employment in Harris, Chambers, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston Counties.
If you or someone you know are interested, please call (713)773-6000 to speak to our HYPE team: Dorian (ext.126), Yazmin (130), and Jimmy (x167).
Project Jump Start
Project Jump Start is specially designed for youth 14-21 who have been involved in the juvenile justice system somehow within the past 12 months. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the program or have any questions, contact Imicuk at (713)773-6000 ext. 135
This Way Ahead
In collaboration with Gap Inc., SER is excited to present a new opportunity for our clients through the This Way Ahead (TWA) program! Youth & young adults ages 16-21 will participate in a series of 16 workshops over the course of 8 weeks (beginning the week of March 24th) where they will learn to get and keep a job or internship. Upon completion, 25 of those youth will be selected for 12-week paid internships with Gap, Old Navy, or Banana Republic that could potentially lead to part time, full time, or seasonal employment. TWA students not selected for these internships will still be eligible for SER's other summer work experience programs.
If your company or organization is interested in hosting SER interns, offering work experience opportunities (often at no expense to the company), or providing job shadowing opportunities for our clients, please contact our Internship Specialist, Sha'Vonne Ironche at 713.773.6000 x134.
