Welding

Course Description

The industry recognized certification course is designed to provide knowledge and skill for an entry level welder. Topics covered include welding safety, oxyfuel cutting, base metal preparation, weld quality, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) - equipment and setup; SMAW—electrodes and selection, beads and fillet welds, groove welds with backing, open V-groove welds, and open-root pipe welds, and joint fit-up and alignment.

SER-Jobs for Progress is offering scholarships to obtain your NCCER Welding I & II certification.  The training will offer the following benefits: 
  • Scholarships available for eligible participants
  • 14 weeks in length Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Hands-on training in stick, MIG, and oxyfuel torch cutting
  • Job Readiness, and 
  • A hiring event, after graduating from training. 

 

To qualify for the NCCER Welding I & II:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • ID/DL & S.S. card
  • Backgrounds are case by case (no sex offenders)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Committed to start and complete training, seeking to pursue employment in the industry
  • Have a strong support team (family, friends, mentors, etc.)

 

The LAST CHANCE to apply for this program is February 6, 2018
 
Classes start February 19, 2018
 
Classes end June 1, 2018
