Weatherization Worker

Course Description

This four week course exposes students to the concepts and practices of Weatherization; it focuses on modern construction techniques and energy conservation to prepare students for a future environmental career.  By the end of the class the participants will be well versed in areas such as sources of energy, utility consumption, humidity transfer and condensation, electrical appliance consumption, construction types and processes.  The Weatherization Worker class also includes 60 hours of hands-on practicum where students are expected to know proper techniques for performing a multitude of energy reducing improvements to homes including repairing/replacing windows, repairing/replacing doors, installing shingles, repairing roofs, installing fiberglass batt, blown cellulose, and rigid board insulation, proper placement of a vapor barrier, and cutting attic access points.
