Development Coordinator

POSITION TITLE:           Development Coordinator
REPORTS TO:               Chief Development Officer
POSITION STATUS:       Full Time, Exempt
DEPARTMENT:              Communications and Development
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
SER-Jobs for Progress is seeking dynamic individuals to join its growing team. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Grants and Communications Manager with:  (1) writing and submitting grant applications to various current and lapsed supporters; (2) writing interim and final reports to funders, and (3) researching new corporate, foundation, and government  prospects. The Development Coordinator will also manage the donor database in Salesforce for the purpose of reconciliation, donor tracking and reporting, cultivation, and acknowledgement.  The Development Coordinator is responsible for processing all financial gifts and creating donor acknowledgement letters. The Development Coordinator will also assist the Development Team by supporting fundraising and donor cultivation events, and direct mail appeals.
 
This position furthers the mission of SER-Jobs for Progress by securing and cultivating funding partners as well as processing financial gifts which provide funding to offset the annual operating budget and position SER for future growth.
 
WORK DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Support SER’s grant proposal submission process
    1. Research and identify prospective corporate and foundation donors by using various databases and internal research
    2. Assist with writing and submitting grant proposals to new, current, and lapsed foundations, corporations, and government
    3. Assist with completion of grant reports by working with program team members to accurately account for grant funds and to describe results generated by grants
    4. Assist with data collection needed for reports to funders
    5. Work closely with development and program teams to track and ensure that funds are being fully spent in an appropriate and timely manner

 

  1. Manage Salesforce donor database and process financial gifts
    1. Record donations into Salesforce donor software and generate/mail acknowledgement letters to donors
    2. Work with accounting team to reconcile gift amounts in Salesforce with accounts receivable
    3. Develop gift reports for received and pledged gifts to be used for budget projections
    4. Manage and maintain the donor database
    5. Maintain hard copy donor files, ensuring that hard copies of gift transmittals, letters, and other pertinent information are included and kept current

 

  1. Support development events and efforts
    1. Researches and gains full understanding of SER programs as well as its target outcomes.
    2. Assist with fundraising events, such as galas, luncheons, and events related to capital campaign
    3. Generate mailing lists for all events
    4. Assist with direct mail appeals
    5. Gather materials in preparation for SER tours and provide tour support as needed
    6. Perform other job duties as assigned

 
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Ability to understand and create budgets
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is necessary
  • Strong follow-up and follow-through skills necessary
  • Proficiency using computers, printers, and copy machines

REQUIRED EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from accredited institution
  • Two years of development experience preferred
  • Experience with a variety of fundraising methods and techniques is helpful, but not required
  • Experience in grant writing and reporting preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
