Concrete Technician

Course Description:

The Concrete Technician course is designed to prepare its students to quickly enter the concrete industry in a variety of specialties from flatwork and drives to commercial building pours.  Classroom presentations cover topics such as the history of concrete, concrete mix components, proportioning the mix, concrete safety, types of cement, additives, aggregates, reinforcement, loading patterns, formwork and prep, pouring, and finishing.  Throughout the class students are required to perform hands-on exercises testing the mix of concrete, bending and tying reinforcement, and ending with a one-truck pour of a slab of concrete including the excavation, compaction, formwork, reinforcement, pour, and finishing.
